Meet Cassandra
MOTHER, WIFE, MIDWIFE & FRIEND
Cassandra Barker is the proud Owner and Midwife at Emerald Midwifery. Her journey into birth work began after her first daughter was born safely and peacefully at home with loving midwives. In 2016 she became a Doula and began attending women wherever they called her to go - hospital, home, or birth center. After attending her first home birth that was not her own, she heard the call to midwifery. In 2018 Cassandra began training with traditional midwives as a birth assistant, shortly thereafter she pursued an academic path to midwifery. She completed her clinical training in 2023 and became a NARM Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). Shortly after, Cassandra became licensed by the state of Indiana as a Certified Direct Entry Midwife (CDEM).

PRENATAL CARE
We provide comprehensive prenatal care that includes regular visits, ultrasounds, and prenatal testing. Our goal is that you feel informed and at the center of the decision-making process regarding your care. Guiding you to maintain a solid foundation of health for you and your baby during your pregnancy is our top priority.
HOME BIRTH SERVICES
Planned home birth with a trained midwife is a safe choice for low-risk mothers and their babies. We provide compassionate care that is safe, supportive, and personalized. Your midwife is a highly trained expert in natural childbirth that monitor the health and well-being of you and your baby throughout your labor, birth, and immediate postpartum in the comfort of your home.

POSTPARTUM & NEWBORN CARE
We provide holistic, intimate postpartum care that includes five regular visits, breastfeeding support, and newborn care. Normal, primary care for your newborn will be provided from birth to 6 weeks of age, when it is recommended to transfer well-baby care to a pediatric provider of your choice. We are dedicated to helping you adjust to life with your new baby and ensure that you are both off to a healthy and happy start.
